Rensselaer Environmental Coalition
The Rensselaer Environmental Coalition (REC) is a group of residents and other concerned citizens formed to address the serious environmental health and quality of life problems associated with two solid waste projects in the city of Rensselaer: the Dunn Construction and Demolition (C&D) Landfill and the proposed BioHiTech garbage processing facility.
Mission
Close and remediate the Dunn Landfill
Prevent the development of other hazardous projects such as the recently thwarted efforts to install a slug incinerator facility at the Port of Rensselaer.
Vision
Residents and surrounding communities have the right to a livable environment with good quality of life for children, families and others
- Clean air in which to live, work, learn and play
- Freedom from toxic odors, chemicals, noise, dust, diesel exhaust and truck traffic.
